Friends of Nigeria Sports (FNS), a group of sports journalists, stakeholders and enthusiasts have reacted to the purported plans of incumbent NFF President Amaju Pinnick to seek re-election for a third term in office.
Reacting to the news of Pinnick’s ambition, FNS in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Asiwaju Akeem Busari, described it as a portrayal of Pinnick’s inordinate ambitions, which has made him selfish and insensitive to the feelings and emotions of the average Nigerian football lover.
“We agree that the statutes of the NFF did not limit how many times a person can run for the position of NFF president. However, it is a shame that Amaju Pinnick is irresponsive and insensitive to the pains his board of the NFF have caused Nigerians and our football in the past eight years of his tenure,” he noted.
“Painfully, he has continued to take Nigerian football stakeholders for granted. Can you imagine Pinnick telling the public that he’s not going to contest for a third term due to family pressures? And only for him to turn around to say, some so-called influential Nigerians are asking him to go for a third term.
“This is a man who holds the unenviable records as the worst NFF president. And we would not allow him to come back to completely destroy whatever remains of Nigerian football,” he added.
