Nigeria to Showcase Nigeria’s Growing Commitment To Environmental Sustainability at ESG Summit

Nigeria’s efforts to drive a green transition and reshape its economic future through climate policy will take center stage at the 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Summit and Awards, scheduled to hold in Lagos on May 22.
Organizers of the annual summit say this year’s event will focus on the transformative potential of climate policy in Africa’s development, highlighting Nigeria’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability.
With the theme “Nigeria’s Green Transition Efforts and Climate Change Revolution,” the summit aims to explore how climate action is becoming both an environmental necessity and an economic opportunity.
Key discussions will include the country’s expanding climate legislation, the implementation of Project Evergreen—an ambitious national sustainability initiative—and the development of carbon markets.
Stakeholders say these efforts signal Nigeria’s intent to lead Africa’s shift toward sustainable energy and low-carbon growth.
The event will also feature an exhibition platform, allowing organizations to showcase climate innovations, engage with key stakeholders, and demonstrate their ESG commitments.
In addition to the summit, the 2025 National Sustainability Achievement Awards will be held to honor organizations making outstanding contributions to sustainable development.
The awards will recognize entities advancing environmental stewardship while addressing social and economic challenges.
The summit and awards are being organized by ESG Impact Consulting Ltd., a sustainability-focused firm that supports Nigerian organizations in aligning with international ESG standards through research, consulting, and reporting services.
Organizers said the summit represents a critical step for Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, to turn climate-related challenges into drivers of growth, innovation, and international leadership in the green economy.
