Ahead of the 4th Window of 2023 FIBA World Cup qualification games which will be held in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers are upbeat about their chances to pick a ticket to the global championship.
The team presently camped in Abidjan, held its sixth training session, Wednesday, at the Palais des Sports Treichville, to keep it in top shape ahead of its opening game against host Cote D’Ivoire on Friday.
The team who would prosecute the qualification games without the presence of head coach Mike Brown have vowed to pick a World Cup ticket despite the lack of moral and financial support from the Nigeria Ministry of Sports.
The team who are training under, the supervision of Alan Major and Ogoh Odaudu are determined to do better than their last outing during the third window of the qualifiers held in Kigali, Rwanda.
Meanwhile, two new players on Thursday joined the D’Tigers camp. They are Ruben Abuchi and
Godwin Omenaka, bringing the number to 12
D’Tigers tackles Cote D’Ivoire on Friday in their first Group E game, before taking on Guinea on Saturday and then facing bitter rivals Angola on Sunday in their last game of the qualifiers.
Cote D’Ivoire currently leads Group E with 8 points, Cape Verde follows with 7 points, with Angola are third and Nigeria fourth with 6 points same with the Angolans. While Uganda and Guinea complete the table.
