Senator Patrick Osakwe proprietor of defunct Flash Flamingoes football club of Benin city who passed on a few months ago, was Thursday honoured with a novelty football match by ex-internationals and ex- Flash Flamingoes players at the Western Boys High school Benin City in Edo State.
The late Business mogul was a pools magnate who veered into the aviation, hospitality, real estate and automobile sectors of the Nigerian Economy. Chief Osakwe was also a philanthropist per excellence.
To honour him, former reputable footballers thronged the ancient city of Benin in droves and of course, into the waiting arms of the Osakwe family and the Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Comrade Phillip Shuaibu as host.
It was indeed, an assemblage of ex-footballers and of course, with a prominent presence of the leadership of the new movement who are committed to taking over control and command of football administration in Nigeria.
Some of the prominent ex-footballers include Waidi Akanni( Former Lagos FA Chairman), Bright Omokaro, Edema Fuludu, Monday Eguavoen, Peter Obanor, Friday Salami, Davidson Owumi ( CEO NPFL), Anthony Emodofu, Boston Omosigho, Lucky Ikpomwovia, Haruna Wahab, Austin Iyamu, Austin Popo.
Others are Kenneth Nwaomucha (Chairman Delta FA) Roland Abu (Edo FA) Hilary Adiki, David Aigbovo, Prince Afejuku, Edema Benson, Coach Emmanuel Okonkwo (Tetteh), Humphrey Jebba, Chris Igbeka, Friday Oteri, Ndubuisi Okosieme and Harrison Jalla, who manned the left back for the Ex-flash team.
The novelty match ended one goal apiece, as the Ex-flash team was rescued by a late goal from the deft touch of His Excellency comrade Phillip Shuaibu. The fulfilled celebration continued into the late hours of last night at the Meridian Hotel GRA Benin City.
