Lagos, Nigeria – July 2026 — The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation, in partnership with Peakline Sports World Limited, is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural Nathaniel Idowu Junior 7s Football League 2026 — a 7-a-side football competition exclusively for secondary schools across Lagos State.
The League is the Foundation’s latest investment in grassroots football development and youth empowerment. It provides student-athletes with a structured platform to develop football talent, build character, and embrace teamwork, discipline, and leadership through professionally organized competition.
The tournament will take place every Friday at the New Maracana Sports Complex, Tolu. Twelve secondary schools will compete in a single round-robin format, with each school playing every other school once for a total of 66 matches before the champions are crowned.
With over ₦2,500,000 in prize money at stake, the Nathaniel Idowu Junior 7s Football League is positioned to become one of Lagos State’s premier secondary school football competitions.
In keeping with the Foundation’s mission to ensure equal access to opportunity, registration for the competition is completely FREE. Schools are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to compete at a high level while promoting excellence both on and off the pitch.
Speaking on the initiative, organizers noted that the League is designed not only to discover future football stars, but also to instill lifelong values in young people through sport.
