
African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Nigeria launched its National Consortium on Women in Governance, Peace & Security with support from UN Women Nigeria and funding from the government of Germany.
The event, held in Abuja, gathered leaders and advocates to push for stronger women’s participation in decision-making.
Speaking at the launch, Cameroonian Beatrice Eyong, who is the UN Women Country Representative to Nigeria, commended AWLN’s dedication to advancing the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) and urged intensified support for the #SpecialSeatsBill.
Ms. Lorena Mohr, representing the German ambassador to Nigeria, reaffirmed Germany’s long-standing support since 2017.
Prof. Oluwafunmilayo J Para-Mallam, Country Chair AWLN (Nigeria Chapter) thanked UN Women and the Government of Germany for their continuous support and reminded everyone that women, as the backbone of society, must be at the decision-making table.
